President's Message - AOCNA
Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure and honor to welcome you to the 2022 AOCNA Virtual Symposium. Time flies—it has been three years since we were together at our 15th Asian Oceanian Congress of Child Neurology (AOCCN) in Malaysia. Although the 16th AOCCN, which was originally planned to be held at Bangkok in 2021, was postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, teleconference has shown us a new way to meet virtually that actually allows many more of us to attend and share the benefits of our conference. Therefore, instead of the annual in-person conference, a virtual symposium was developed and implemented by the executive board members and national delegates.
Because of the dedication of AOCNA national delegates and executive board officers, a wide range of topics related to child neurologic diseases will be presented and discussed at the symposium. In addition, we have invited a new generation of pediatric neurologists from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia to share their perspectives and experience about the changing landscape of challenges faced by child neurologists in these areas. The meeting agenda in store for us is excellent, and the networking opportunities will be outstanding even in a virtual setting. I hope we can work, learn, and solve problems together to build an even stronger child neurologist team for our patients in the Asian and Oceanian region.
Thank you again for all the organizers who volunteered their time and knowledge to make this special online international symposium happen. I wish you all success and hope that you all engage in fruitful discussions during this conference. I look forward to meeting you all.
Ching-Shiang Chi, M.D. - President
The Asian and Oceanian Child Neurology Association (AOCNA)
Message from Org. Committee - AOCNA 2022
The Organizing Committee welcomes all AOCNA members or participants to join our 2022 AOCNA Virtual Symposium on September 2nd to 4th, 2022.
Since this is the first virtual symposium for all AOCNA members who live in different time zones, there are many factors that are important to consider in arranging this program. Among other things, AOCNA executive board officers and national delegates considered the topics and speakers as recommended by the national delegates from their AOCNA members, and then finalized the topics and presenters for the symposium. We are thankful for all our speakers’ and moderators’ participation and time.
In terms of meeting platform design, after reviewing a couple of proposals from conferencing companies, we have chosen Marundeshwara Enterprises company to be in charge of all meeting software design and technology supports. We also want to thank the sponsor companies, including Eisai Pharmaceutic Company, Novartis Pharmaceutic Company, BIOTOOLS Co., Ltd., LivaNova Taiwan Co., Ltd., and Syngrowth Co., Ltd. for their contribution.
We hope that all members will have a productive time at this special symposium and enjoy it. We look forward to learning and talking with all of you at the meeting, and also look forward to seeing everyone in person in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2023.

The AOCNA Virtual Symposium will be held from September 2nd - 4th, 2022.
The goal of the AOCNA 2022 Virtual Symposium is to continue to foster the high-quality relationships among AOCNA members during the COVID-19 pandemic, and share advanced medical knowledge to create the best child neurology team to serve patients in the Asian Oceanian region.
The topics in this symposium are diverse. It includes topics like updated approaches in pediatric neurology clinical care for numerous types of diseases, and the future development of pediatric neurology. In addition, there is a special session dedicated to recommending a distinguished new generation of doctors to share their vision, mission, and career goals as a child neurologists. This session will provide opportunities for different generation neurologists to collaboratively work, learn and grow together.
Furthermore, all presenters will provide a pre-recorded video for members who are unable to attend the live presentation due to time zone differences. The symposium is rich in content and essential in engaging valuable conversations among members. Through notable experts from the Asia and Oceania region, we can explore new innovations and strategies to enhance quality of care and for better patient outcomes.
